This apartment renovation transforms a four-bedroom residence into a comfortable and adaptable home for an elderly couple.
The original layout provided more private rooms than required for daily living, while the apartment’s location limited the amount of natural light reaching the public spaces. Our design approach focuses on enhancing daylight, spatial clarity, and ease of movement to support long-term, relaxed living.
By removing the partition between the living room and an adjacent bedroom, natural light reaches deeper into the apartment, creating two interconnected public spaces:
a living room and tea room.
A consistent 2.7m ceiling height is articulated through a 2.1m horizontal datum, defining spatial hierarchy without additional walls. Where ceilings are lowered, custom green cabinetry integrates storage while gently separating functions.
Through light, proportion, and integrated millwork, the apartment becomes a calm, legible, and generous home.
